Spring Plant Sale is Back! Orders have begun
New Leaf Greenhouse is under new ownership and are again doing the spring plant sale fundraiser.

St. John’s Spring Plant Sale has begun and we will be taking orders through Sunday, April 6. New Leaf Greenhouse is again featuring an assortment of plants with choices that provide something for every gardener!

For those who prefer annuals, there are half flat (18 plants) and full flat (36 plants) tray packs of 5 annuals – dahlia mix, impatiens mix, blue trailing lobelia, dwarf marigold mix and petunia mix.

For veggie lovers, there are also 3 assorted samplers of 4” pots in half flats of 8 plants and full flats of 16 plants, including garden bounty, heirloom tomato and herb samplers. Zonal geraniums in 4” pots are available in red, pink, coral and white. For those with space on the front porch or deck, there are also awesome planters and hanging baskets. Order forms will be available in the West Wing narthex and the Parish Office and will be added electronically in the weekly email and on our Website.. See the back of the order form for a description of the plants in the various offerings. This is your opportunity to expand your garden, hang baskets and set out planters while supporting St. John’s Operating Fund.

In addition to your plant orders, we are asking for 3 to 4 volunteers to help bring the plants into the church. There will also be a signup sheet for volunteers in the narthex. Those who help unload get their orders filled first! Plants will be delivered to St. John’s on Friday, May 2 and ready for pickup on Friday afternoon and Saturday, May 3.

In-person Safe Church Training Saturday, March 29 10am-5pm
The diocese is hosting another in-person Safe Church training day. This one is on Saturday, March 29 at Christ Church in Lake Oswego.

This training is required for licensed ministries (Eucharistic Ministers, Eucharistic Visitors, Licensed Lay Preachers), vestry members, Sunday School leaders, employees, and other volunteers. The training is good for three years.

Safe Church training equips us to create and uphold spaces that reflect Christ's love, where all can feel safe, respected, and supported. It's open to everyone, not just current volunteers.

Training is free and lunch will be provided. Register at https://ecwo.org/event/in-person-safe-church-training/

If you need help registering, contact the office.

Divine Dining Dinner Group starting in April

We’re restarting a long-standing tradition at St John formerly known as Sinners Dinners. Groups of folks will get together once a month for a meal at someone’s home. These are small groups that will be put together in a random drawing.
We will have sign-ups from now until April. Groups will meet from April through September. The host will provide the main course and others will provide the sides, desserts, etc. Hosting duties will rotate from month to month.
If you’re interested and willing to host the first gathering of your group, please reach out to Deb Bradley, Sharon Fontaine, or the office. More information to come!

Save the Date: Episcopal Church Women 2025 Spirituality Day, May 31

ECW will be holding their 33rd annual Spirituality Day on May 31 at St. Paul's Episcopal in Salem, OR. More information to come.

Look who is turning 175 years old.

Happy birthday to St. John the Evangelist in 2026.

Turning 175 is worthy of at least one celebration if not multiple ones.  If you like to plan parties, help with celebrations or just like to have fun, please volunteer for the 175th birthday celebration team for St. Johns. 2026 may seem like a long ways away but it will soon be time to don the party hats.  If we get enough people to join the committee now it will be less work for each person and a wonderful celebration for our church community.

If you would like to volunteer for any role on the committee, please contact Mary Rowe.
