Want to know more about what’s happening at St. John?
Here are some highlights.
Seeking Volunteers for Warming Shelter Set-up
We have been told the Clackamas County Commissioners approved funding for both the building upgrades necessary to house a warming shelter at St. Johns and 3 years operational costs. The earliest it would begin operations is next winter (2025/26). We want to be prepared when we receive official word about this. There will be 2 committees. One will oversee the building upgrades. Prior work has been done to determine what would be needed and estimate costs which is available as a starting point. The second committee will focus on administration including such activities as working with Love One on management agreements, good neighbor agreements, communications etc. Each committee is free to determine the appropriate way to approach the work and will be reporting progress to the Vestry. We already have a couple of volunteers. If this is your passion, please let Mary Rowe or Rev’d Jeanne know.
Divine Dining Dinner Group starting in April
We’re restarting a long-standing tradition at St John formerly known as Sinners Dinners. Groups of folks will get together once a month for a meal at someone’s home. These are small groups that will be put together in a random drawing.
We will have sign-ups from now until April. Groups will meet from April through September. The host will provide the main course and others will provide the sides, desserts, etc. Hosting duties will rotate from month to month.
If you’re interested and willing to host the first gathering of your group, please reach out to Deb Bradley, Sharon Fontaine, or the office. More information to come!
Look who is turning 175 years old.
Happy birthday to St. John the Evangelist in 2026.
Turning 175 is worthy of at least one celebration if not multiple ones. If you like to plan parties, help with celebrations or just like to have fun, please volunteer for the 175th birthday celebration team for St. Johns. 2026 may seem like a long ways away but it will soon be time to don the party hats. If we get enough people to join the committee now it will be less work for each person and a wonderful celebration for our church community.
If you would like to volunteer for any role on the committee, please contact Mary Rowe.

Creation Care and Repair Ministry is hosting coffee hour on Sunday, March 2 after the 10am service
Meatless Mondays are growing in popularity and usually protein-rich and land-friendly beans make an appearance. Come to coffee hour on March 2 for tastings of two delicious soups. Recipes will be available, of course, and there will be activities for the kids.
Grief Group meeting in-person at St. John beginning
March 5, 1pm
The diocese-supported grief group continues in March. They will meet here at St. John on the first and third Wednesdays at 1pm, and our own deacon, Greg, will be facilitating. Greg is a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience working with cancer patients and their families, hospice, and individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, or grief.
Everyone is invited, no matter when you experienced loss.
In-person Safe Church Training Saturday, March 29 10am-5pm
The diocese is hosting another in-person Safe Church training day. This one is on Saturday, March 29 at Christ Church in Lake Oswego.
This training is required for licensed ministries (Eucharistic Ministers, Eucharistic Visitors, Licensed Lay Preachers), vestry members, Sunday School leaders, employees, and other volunteers. The training is good for three years.
Safe Church training equips us to create and uphold spaces that reflect Christ's love, where all can feel safe, respected, and supported. It's open to everyone, not just current volunteers.
Training is free and lunch will be provided. Register at https://ecwo.org/event/in-person-safe-church-training/
If you need help registering, contact the office.
